UK Minister addresses Holy Land Conference

Addressing the International Conference ‘Christians in the Holy Land’, Minister of State Lord Howell of Guildford spoke about ensuring that Jerusalem remains a holy city for all faiths.

Lord Howell stated that the effective promotion of human rights, including religious freedom, is central to British foreign policy. Freedom of religion or belief is a priority human rights issue for the UK government.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, and the Archbishop of Westminster, The Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, jointly hosted the international Conference, which took place on 18-19 July 2011 at Lambeth Palace.
